There are billions of people in the world and we are all vying for our spot in purpose and in our respective lanes. We are looking to live meaningful lives and to do work that may actually impact someone other than ourselves. We want people to get it. We want people to know that we are valuable. We expect it. But the bottom line here is just because we are valuable doesn’t mean that people will always see it. Especially when it comes to our crafts and creativity, sometimes you have to know what makes your value attractive and be able to execute in a way that makes it a no-brainer to others.
The new year is closing in. The months have seemed to fly by and there have been great highs and great lows in this year of 2016. As we are planning, writing out the goals, and plotting world domination, I thought it the perfect time to just assess what truly matters. It may be different for every person, but I’ll take you through a few of the things that I have found most important in life this year.
One of my biggest fears has always been being ordinary. I mean from the time I was a little girl I always wanted to stand out. I wanted to shine, but was always slightly afraid of what that meant. I felt like I was destined for something bigger than myself with no rhyme or reason to support it. I just wanted to be seen, to be impactful, to have something to say.
We work. We work towards our dreams, our goals, our love lives, etc. We churn away at the things that we’ve decided that we want out of life. But if you’re anything like me, occasionally you look around at all you’re doing and think, “What the heck am I doing? Who do I think I am?” Maybe that doesn’t happen for you, but it happens for me all the time. I realize now that as much as I am driven and ambitious about the things that I want out of life, I am sometimes slowed down by wondering if I actually deserve it.
It took some time, but I have finally come to the conclusion that my work flow tends to be a bit dysfunctional! I am all over the place! At some point in this lovely journey of building my blog and brand, I developed the inability to focus on one thing for too long! I am the master multi-tasker and everything that I have been reading or listening to lately talks about how much of a disservice it is to try to do multiple things at once and so ….. I’m on a mission to get ORGANIZED and focused. If you’re with me, I will share a few tips below about the steps that I am taking!
