Journey of a NB | The Year of Bold Faith and Big Prayers

It’s interesting how you can think something means one thing and then have a completely different revelation about it shortly after. I had the awesome opportunity to hear from Dr. Dee Dee Freeman on Saturday, Jan. 30 at an event hosted by Heaven’s Gate ministry and it completely blew my mind. If you know anything about Dr. Dee Dee, you know that she is a bold woman of God and as some of you say, she was in the building snatching edges all around. She helped me realize that this is my year of bold faith and big prayers, but in more ways than one.

A Year of Bold Faith and Big Prayers

It was after reading Joel Osteen’s Breakout! That I realized I wasn’t treating God as if he was big enough. We understand that he is the reason that we wake up every morning and that he is this omnipotent, but often times we diminish his power in our thoughts and in our prayers. We think, oh “this will never happen for me” or “how do I think I am to want such things,” but I believe that time is over in my life.

I am expecting huge things from God in my life and in my family’s life and the only way to get there is through bold faith and big prayers. “We walk by faith and not by sight,” right? So it doesn’t matter what it may look like or where we may have come from. Huge things are possible. The other day I said out loud “I want to be a New York Times Best Selling author,” And it scared me a little. How is this little girl from Logan in Philadelphia, PA going to make it to the top of that list? I don’t know. But I know that’s what I want and I know the more that I say it and meditate on it, it will happen. Because what is on our mind and in our mouths is in our future. And whether or not I have the “credentials” of a best-selling author, I have the favor of God on my life and I believe that favor will take me farther faster, period.

So these are some of the things that we need to get into our hearts and hold onto. And we can’t let others deter us or have people tell us that God has more important things to worry about. He does, for sure, but he is also capable of handling EVERY single need there is. That’s the kind of God we serve. And he also said that whatever we be loosed on Earth, will also be loosed in heaven. So often we think that believing in God means this lowly life and it doesn’t! He wants us to be prosperous in EVERY area of our life. NOT just monetarily which people always seem to focus on. But in health, in wisdom, in love, understanding, in grace and SO MUCH MORE.

The kicker here though, which Dr. Dee Dee really showed me that Saturday afternoon is that I will also have to bold faith and big prayers in what could go wrong in my life as well. Although 2016 feels like this huge year of manifestation and great things, we would be FOOLS to think that it won’t also come with its own challenges. Dr. Dee Dee told us the story of her husband Mike Freeman who is also an awesome man of God, check him out if you have never watched and his insane battle to live. Without giving the whole thing away, he fell gravely ill from a battle with an aggressive pneumonia and Dr. Dee Dee had to stand on her FAITH to bring him back.

When they showed a video of her perseverance and how much time and procedures and all that it took to get him well again it brought tears to my eyes. Not that this terrible thing was happening but that Dr. Dee never wavered from her trust in GOD! She could have said, why is this happening to me? She could have given up. She could have just cried every day and stayed in bed. But she didn’t. She worked the word of God. She spoke life into her husband every day. She prayed for and with those nurses and doctors that were handling him. She stood fiercely and boldly in God’s face and gave his word back to him. And it was a long road, but Dr. Mike Freeman is still here, still kicking and tearfully in that video he expressed it was ONLY because of his wife’s faith!

That woke me up. It woke me up to realize that it is great to believe God for the amazing things that we want to happen in our lives. BUT we also have to be that bold about the challenges that we will inevitably face in this life. I was motivated to trust God even in what may come against me this year as well as the things that I want to happen for me. That type of faith, the trust that even when the room is on fire around us that we will not be burned is what I believe will truly be the faith that is pleasing to God.

That woman’s trial will motivate and raise up thousands and thousands of others to be that bold and authoritative in their faith. So you see the things that we go through are not even just so that we can say that we survived, but it is also so that we can impact the lives of others to survive as well.

This is the year for me of bold faith and BIG prayers. Not just for the things that I have been afraid to say that I want, but also for the things that I know that I will face. I love God’s ability to show you the whole truth and not just bits and pieces. I trust him that much that ALL things, all things, all things are working together for my good because I believe with my whole heart in Him.

Scriptures to Reference:

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6

For we walk by faith, not by site. 2 Corinthians 5:7

Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 18:18

Tell me in the comments, how will you exercise bold faith and big prayers in your life this year?
